Be sure to unplug appliances when not in use to save energy and money. Get planting - Earth Day is the day to take the plunge and create a vegetable patch. You'll not only be eliminating the carbon emissions that are involved in getting produce to plate, you'll get to enjoy fresh, organic produce. If you're new to planting or have limited outdoor space, start by planting some fresh herbs or lettuce in a bucket. Use earth-friendly cleaning products - The products that we clean our homes with are often laden with toxic chemicals and harmful substances. The good news is that we don't need to rely on strong chemicals to achieve a clean home. Choose earth-friendly products or make your own from fresh lemon juice and vinegar water. Use your own grocery bags - Pick up a couple of your favorite tote bags and take them shopping with you. Instead of using the grocery or retail store's bags, you can reduce your plastic consumption easily! If you don't want to spend money on reusable bags, take an extra backpack or duffel bag and leave those plastic bags behind. Fix leaks in the home - Save water and precious water resources by fixing leaks around your home, whether it's the toilet or the taps. You can save money by doing so, too!
